• 1. Are your products Vegan or Vegetarian?

    Both. We consider ourselves a vegetarian foods manufacturer as we make cow's milk yogurt in addition to our plant-based products. Our plant-based products are vegan and vegetarian as we keep the dairy and plant-based production separate and use no animal products in their production. We are working towards getting the plant-based products certified vegan for an added layer of assurance for our vegan consumers.

  • 2. Where can I buy your Vegan products?

    Currently the Wheat Roast and Tamales are distributed throughout the Southwest region (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas) through UNFI. Whole Foods Markets and Natural Grocers carry both items but not in all stores, and many independent retail natural foods stores carry them. Look for them in the frozen section. In the Austin area, many restaurants and independent retailers carry/use the Wheat Roast and tamales, as well as the No-Meata Fajitas and Chorizo.   • 3. What is the best way to prepare the tamales?

    When cooking the tamales, care must be taken not to dry them out too much, which can make them crumbly. Let them thaw out in the refrigerator for a few days then steam them in a large pan. You will need some kind of steamer basket to keep the tamales out of the water. Stack the tamales up criss-cross in the basket and steam until hot in the middle. They are pre-cooked and ready to eat out of the package so there is no need to worry about whether they are done as you are just warming them up. A good gourmet hot sauce is an excellent garnish when served with rice and refried beans. Check out our tamale recipes for other mealtime suggestions.

  • 4. Are any of your Vegan products gluten-free?

    Our No-Egg Tofu Salad and Sweet Potato Pecan tamales are gluten-free. We are currently working on gluten-free certification for these products as an added layer of assurance for our gluten sensitive consumers.
